Sitting here, teaching alone in my office, to a nearly blank screen...

Still, Still (A Triolet)

Still, still... the silence on the air.
Surrounding me in loneliness
is every single empty chair.
Still, still... the silence on the air,
the only noise, a silent prayer
for sound, for chaos, noisiness...
Still, still... the silence on the air,
surrounding me in loneliness.

I can feel the quiet reverberating in the the near empty room. Well done, you use the form beautifully.

the air with droplets a menacing mystery
the still air stagnates boring to lunacy
the din releases though cacophony ceases
the surrounding stillness seeks what pleases

Lady Courtaire
This is so sad and so beautiful in its simplicity. Triolet: what a lovely, delicate form. I don't know that I've encountered it before. It's a perfect vehicle for this lonely and heartbreakingly relatable piece. Thank you for sharing your voice.
