As to last evening....

Spectacle

This day I saw a horrid thing
A bully rampant without control
No one to blunt his mindless roar
All in awe of his elemental hate

A bully rampant without control
In senseless monologue sustained
By self delusion that he is king
That truth is his not bound by fact

No one could blunt his mindless roar
Diatribes incoherently spueing forth
In egocentric pontifical stance
Raw power of a maniacal stench

All in awe of his elemental hate
On display for the world to know
His need to rage is self inflicted
Sad victim of parental derision

Joe, you've discovered alchemy! You've taken the, ahem, dross of that debate that I count myself fortunate not to have watched, and made fine solid-gold poetry. And this is formally quite adept and interesting. A rondeau redouble?

From what I've read, you've accurately described what happened last night. I never watch candidates' "debates" because they're not at all informative. The moderators ask vapid questions, which the candidates don't answer, and excrement ends up being thrown in every direction. This country's political system is vile.

Amsterdam
A well written poem that invokes the anger we have all felt.
