I wrote a work about a British-English father - dad husband. Who went off to Afghanistan. This a work based upon that work & on the news today.

Military Service
Tommo were a member of the R A F ground crew reserve
He were an engineer, had his own small business and doing very well
When he received a letter calling him up to serve in Afghanistan
Now Tommo could of said - ' NO - NO WAY am I going over there!! '
He had GOOD reasons NOT to go - his age a family man
But not Tommo!
He gave the letter a lot of thought
Look at his five lovely bright and smart and clever all five were later
To go to university - gain MA's.
Tommo, did not always like the way dressed or the music they like
But Tommo smiled happy smiles proud of each one loved each one
All the same
His girls gave their dad books CDs - sweats - to hand out to children he met
Tommo knew very little about Afghanistan
He know that Afghani girls did not enjoy the freedoms his girls enjoyed in the
U K
Education dress in the fashions they free to wear free yes to have - boy friends!
True, Tommo, did not always like 'em! But But- he let them date his girls!
All the same. - while muttering all the same - as proud loving dads tend to do!
Tommo, felt motivated by the freedoms his daughters had
He believed he could do his bit to enable Afghanistan girls to enjoy
All that his girls were enjoying right in front of him - out of sight of him!
So Tommo went off Afghanistan - knowing why - HE - was going to fight for!
He were killed by a roadside bomb - Tommo's war were over
