My poem to the tune of the song Bang Bang, I shot you down

And Then

I was 9 and you were 10
We played games in the chicken pen
I would cluck and you would laugh
We'd roll around til we had to take a bath

And then, you left town
And then, I thought I would drown
And then, I felt like a clown
And then, they took you far away

Years went by and we grew up
With different flavors in our cups
I lived high and you lived low
I think I saw you once at the picture show

And then, you came back around
And then, I saw you in my town
And then, I couldn't stand the crowd
And then, you came back to town.

I held my breath and I counted to 10
Before I dialed your number again.
I know now what I knew then
My love for you was never thin

And then, you said Hello
And then, I became jello
And then, I blurted I love you
And then, you said you love me too

Decades now have come and gone
My love for you is still as strong
Our babies have already grown
Somehow you still make me moan

And then, our hair went gray
And then, I smiled every day
And then, I loved you more and more
And then, God took you away

D G Moody
I loved this - humming to Bang Bang, it works so well; and all the time sad but sweet.

I love it and I hear the song in person from my gorgeous friend LacyxDevine. You are three in one, artist, poet and singer my dear friend.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
This is delightful, I was smiling all the way though . . . until the last line, which stung.

But love is love, and eternal, and that is what I read in your words and song.

This sounds a whole lot better rolling off of your tongue if it's Sung.
