Lust & Hunger

Lust & Hunger

drive my acquisitions, steer my aims

I'm hungry for scholary literature,

and have a burning lust

for Paul Saenger's

Space Between Words: The Origin of Silent Reading”

(Stanfords University Press)

and ”The Art of Memory” by Francis Yeats

(The Bodley Head)

I feel an irresistible lust

for the countless alien civilizations

of the Universe,

and hunger for the familiar ski tracks

of today's pending hike

Yes, I have a great lust for the warm motion

of my muscles,

in relentless daily exercises,

and hunger for the consequent rest

and its soothing gravity

I have a lust for beautiful truths

cut in stone,

and an aching hunger

for the Nietzschean revaluation of all values

What a subversion of what one "might" expect from the title. Nice one.
