Calm in love

My neck will wake up with a crick in it
until it finds your chest to lie on

My ears will deem everything noise
until they hear the beat of your heart

My lashes will close over eyes
that have endured oceans to get to you

My jaws will unclench
no longer needing teeth to grit

My lips will be whispering your name
as if they’d known all along

And my skin will grow goosebumps
the braille of which
only your fingers could read

Oh but what of my heart
and it’s long-lost fragility?

It will grow roots
to keep your palm pressed against it.

Yes; the way you use the parts of yourself to express love is eloquent. I particularly liked the final stanza: 'It will grow roots...'
