Let's be Clear About Who Will Bear the Blame

Consider the United States, collosal in its arrogance,
Untouched by war, unschooled, self-righteous,
Calling itself master of the planet for some eighty
Years. Consider, then, its adversaries, one attacked,
Almost destroyed, not once, but twice by western
Powers, vowing not to be again, the other conquered
Many times, and occupied, humiliated, likewise,
Bent on standing up to those who aim to humble it.
The U.S. will go on assuming that it cannot be
Restrained. It pushes eastward, threatening Russia,
Circles China like a shark. Too arrogant and ignorant
To understand how others view it, in the not-too
Distant future, it will cause a world war.

I think you must see humanity from a purely biological viewpoint. Like you see the terns that move from Antarctica to the Arctic, or the cuckoo, which lays its egg in another species' nest, and which, when the fledgling is hatched and growing up, still leaves that nest as a cuckoo, with all the specifics and behaviour of a cuckoo, without ever having met a cuckoo itself... I think it's a mistake to see ourselves or slabs of our species as decided, acting according to will or plan. I think, for us too, as for other species, things just happen, except that in our case, we have a little side effect that has grown out of out of our complicated brains that we call reason, but which just is a way for this massive wave of life to reflect some, but not decide our behaviour. We just happen.

what would do the besieged if they could move? they would move to a free place...? The earth seems not big enough to guarantee some world peace? some people are expansive species with a slant for destruction, as long as they continue to invade other nations they don't destroy themselves because their appetite for destruction is not self-destructive ?
