Gaijin with the Split Personality
I could live here, I think, in some little
Village. I doubt that I ever could learn
Japanese. I'd be just some old immigrant,
Peddling his bicycle down to the grocery
Two times a week. I would gesture
And smile, and bow as I leave, never quite
Certain what I'd bought to eat. Docile
And taciturn, just an old man...until I got
Onto my motorcycle, and set off to
Conquer those tortuous roads through
The mountains, which I must admit
Would be mostly why I chose to stay.
