PUTTING NETTA SYRETTS OF RAMSGATE BACK INTO BOOKSTORES NEAR YOU!

I by chance came across Netta Syrett
Years ago now, I sat watching a film
 ' A Woman Rebels ' 1936 , staring Katharine Hepburn
I looked up the film, and saw it were an adaption of a book writen by
A Netta Syrett!
Now intrigued, I look to research further

An author of note and were born in Ramsgate!
A seaside town of little note as to be said
Ramsgate, great export is it's youngsters!
As been so for many a year

One being Netta Syrett, born in 1865, Harber Street

One of thirteen children, five sisters, eight brothers
Mother and father were in trade, owned clothing, material

A store that took up just about all of one side of Harber Steet

Both parents believed their children should be education

Esperly their daughters!
Sending them to London, to be schooled!

Three daughters showed artistic potential - Mabel, Nellie - and of Course Netta Syrett!

Mabel and Nellie, married, both had children, and became full-time
Sadly, both gave up being artists, oh what a loss!

Netta, decided, that kind of life - NOT FOR HER!
Netta, Mabel, and Nellie contributed to The Bodey Head Querly
Later Netta became part of  The Yellow Book Quarterly Netta

The only member to go on to become an author of note

Netta, a true feminist, her books, with strong girls and women Characters
I think, Netta, felt, that the Suffrageats, were a single issue Movement

Netta, believed, that women, should have equal rights as is their Right
This comes across in her books

Netta wrote over forty books and plays during her life
Netta said: '' Each generation of writers, replace those who came Before''  '' Will be forgotten; ''  I disagree with Nettea on that!
I for one will my utmost, to ensure, our Netta Syrett - will not be Forgotten!

Writer's of the past will never be forgotten about
Ken as long as there are people around,
That take interest in what they wrote. especially
when it was so important for them to stand out .
