facts, opinions and perceptions

"Aya Nakamura is a singer who is expected to open the ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris...a section of the population fears that they will be poorly perceived abroad. On the other hand, acting against this singer could also be poorly received!"

In general, the more the number of candidates decreases,
the more subtle the differences between the stronger candidates will be, right?
So why are the perceptions so stark when choosing between two presidential candidates (Trump, Biden)...
Is it because the voters' judgment skills are so very limited that the media zooms on the differences
there is a continuity in the perception
so that the system is never called into question?
in a democracy, the candidates are perceived by the media
as very different but the results are in fact very similar?
"c'est une critique de la critique journalistique ?"
Is this a criticism of journalistic criticism by the electors ?

while in autocracy, the results diverge
as if the link between the quality of the candidates and the number of the votes would apply

if the election of Russia was a Gran Slam final,
it would be weird that in the final of a Gran Slam, the score's always so different between the strongest candidates!
as if in the final, the strongest met the weakest, which is counter-intuitive!

is the perception of the quality of candidates smoothed during elections in a democratic regime?
and the differences are very marked in an autocratic regime as if the strongest met the weakest during an election...

These are the factors which make elections in "democratic" countries so dismal. First, the journalists who cover the elections are pathetically ignorant because they've learned how to write, but nothing else. Second, the average voter is unwilling or incapable of learning anything about the issues or candidates. Third, the average voter is innately conservative. He or she refuses to consider candidates or policies which upset the status quo. Together, these influences assure that the "democratic" countries are led by non entities who choose not to advance their nations.

Winston Churchill famously said that"Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all others.". Actually, it's also the best, except for all others. Democracy sucks.
