The Leaves of Love

The leaves of love are dying,
drowning in a pool of tears.
The lovers of life are trying,
but feel nothing but fears.

Rivers flow with instant care,
water and blood mixed up.
Hide your soul and beware
before our hearts blowup.

We keep searching for a better end,
with real intersections and hearts intertwined.
The emotions we find are fake and pretend,
and we keep searching our minds, blinds.

You leave my leaves drowning,
crying out malignant noise.
You leave my heart astounding,
with death as only choice.

Your metaphorical use of the tree as life and the leaves as love is full of impact. The river of blood and tears is vivid and extremely effective in revealing the sorrow and sadness found in the true reality of this poem. kathy
