When I first started taking my writing seriously.

The Gift

As I was grieving, broken-hearted;
God gave me a wondrous new gift.
This ability to write poetry,
That has given my heart a lift.

It started out as aimless wanderings,
Putting my pain in black and white.
But, as I grow stronger each day,
Becomes words I'd never imagined I'd write.

They've helped my to gain perspective,
To see what's really important in life.
To know that in myself, I am nothing,
That everything I owe to the Giver of Life.

The things that I've written will only be seen by a few;
Some are so personal, I wouldn't want to share.
But some have blessed me, and a few others,
And shown me that God really does care.

He sees every tear and knows all the pain,
He understands my anger and fear.
He goes right on loving me, just the same,
Even though sometimes, I can't feel Him near.

He's shown me through my writing,
That He knows, He cares, and He's here with me.
So is it any wonder that I praise His Name,
And worship Him on bended knee?

Father, thank you for this new gift,
Whatever the reason You chose me to have it.
Whether simply for comfort during this time,
Or, another purpose that I can't see yet.

Father, I'm humbled and awed by the sound of Your Voice;
For I know that the words come straight from You.
And Lord, I vow that I'll use this gift,
To glorify Your Name, and try to help others find You, too.
