49. One love poem too much
Can there be one love poem too much?
Of course not. Never. That's precisely the problem
that love can never be enough.
That's why you ladies never can be satisfied,
since you are only made for love
and love can never be enough.
That's why we men can never quite exhaust ourselves
since we can never give enough of our love –
the more we give, the more there is for us to give,
and thus the burden grows of what we have to give
the more we give it, and we have no choice.
We have to constantly keep at it, overstressed and overloaded,
since that is the rule of love that keeps us all alive.
The only possible escape is now and then to go away.
We have to keep on loving till we die,
and that is just a temporary and ephemeral relief,
since all that love consists of is eternal continuity.
