Inspiration from Thoreau

I, The Drummer

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
However measured or far away." Henry David Thoreau
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So much freedom in those words, Henry
So much peace it gives me to read
That it is okay
To follow my own way
My drummer beats inside my heart.
She beats inside my mind.
She beats down deep within me
Keeping a rhythm that is truly mine.
Forever shall I hold your wisdom
For I will march in my time and space
Creating my own place
Of refuge
However measured
Trivial or grand
I shall hear the music
That plays for me alone
I shall dance and clap my
Hands.
Let the world see me as they do
For their eyes see in blindness
I will sing with a voice of elation
For my songs will be of my creation
Not one created by you or you or you!
I am my own drummer,
The leader of my own band.
I will stand
Upon the truths
That I have known
Since I was a child:
To be meek is not too be mild,
To be strong is to be weak,
To be weak is to be strong,
Only in giving, do I truly receive.
These are tenets that I choose to believe.
Therefore, I will march with the certainty
That all things shall come to pass.
Living is learning and teaching.
It is an eternal class.
One not made of glass
But has
Spirit, mind, body, and soul
Let me yell from the mountain tops
I shall echo across the skies
I will reach for the heavens
Touching the stars and galaxies
That were made just for me.
I will share them with you
Come let me show you what I
See.
Then you will dance to your music
You will hear your drummer's beat
You will lead the band of your destination
You will head for your constellations
I will recognize your freedom
And applaud you as you march by
Then we will take the flight of self
As we soar to our individual skies!

Ah! Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free! Jn. 8:32 You've realized the gift of uniqueness. You've understood the gift of uniqueness and You've shared the gift of uniqueness so that others can also know it! And you have done this so beautifully, if I didn't know better I would say Thoreau got his inspiration from you!
