another in the emptiness phase

Watch This Space

"His inhuman void spreads monstrously like a grey vegetation"- Jean Arp

I'm staring straight through you
But my gaze won't make you shatter.
Silently cracking, you feign indifference
Opposites merging at your core
Steel and dust
Forming masks before me
To shut away your inner worlds
No explorer could ever hope to find.

I'm hearing the breeze blow you about
Like sand whipped into angry seas.
Silently seething, you feign joy
Bring memories former to the fore
Laughter and freedom
Forming rivers of longing before me
To wash away what cannot be
No longer a part of the present.

I'm absorbing your essence
Like a caged man breathes fresh air.
Silently stretching, you feign pity
Sort rubbish from relics
Rocks from stones
Forming pictures of fragrance
To save when the passages are blocked,
No additions to complicate

I'm touching the surface
But I can't put my hand through.
Silently tensing, you feign strength
Feel emboldened as you have to,
Clench and squirm
Forming knots to mark where you have been
To leave something of the past
No one should unravel

For there are gaps within these panes
Security cannot hide.

You completely suck the air out of me, here!
