By: Audrey Barber

Yes we all did grieve
When we heard you are to leave
Then I fell down and wept
On the day you really left
My mentor, my guide

For days I could not speak
When you walked out the door
Leaving us all in some moor
My mentor, my guide

At first you were so strict
That you gave me a nasty a push
I thought you were so hard
Then you made me realize
What I had to contribute
My mentor, my guide

Yes you showed me the way
How glad I am you gave me that push
You brought me out of my fright
You made me strong,
Now with confidence proud I stand
My mentor, my guide

Courage you gave me
To take on a challenge and get the task done
To leave things undone a failure you said
So I turned all stones and succeed we did
My mentor, my guide

You made me so strong
With motivation and promotion
None other have done
You had a way to bring the best out in me
My mentor, my guide

Mistakes of mine
How you made them right
Showing me direction
Your sense of judgment for my betterment you used
My mentor, my mentor

Your fairness, your great ability
I shall miss throughout
Eloquence and excellence you always sought
Team spirit you created with all big and small
Never saying No
To all that turned at your door
My mentor, my guide

Some hard times you gave me
But for my good it was
Teaching me skills I never did have
Bringing new ideas then making them happen
This great talent I now have learnt
My mentor, my guide

The knowledge you have and experience too
From these I have learnt so much it's hard to tell
Nothing you held back
But freely gave to one and all
That knowledge you have
A honour it was
To have worked with you
My mentor, my guide

What a loss for me
That you have gone
No one to teach me
The way you have
I am left alone
With no objective, No directive, No perspective
My mentor, my guide

I have now reached the time
Where I must resign
Yet before I go I must say to you
This one last time
You were the best boss I had in my life
My mentor, my guide

I thank you now
From the depths of my heart
For your generosity in teaching me
To be a professional that today I am
I thank you now for that push you gave me
It opened my eyes, opened my mind

I thank now
For the courage you gave, the support you offered
I thank you now
For the understanding when I was low
For that advice you gave valuable knowledge to me

I thank too
For making me what I am today
Most of all your smile, your time
Yes indeed you are great to me
My mentor, my tutor, my guide
Thank you Mr. Steven Dowd

This is a lovely text to who seems to have been a very great leader and a ppl person
As a former Operations manager i realise that authority has nothing to do with stripes on the arm it has more to do with respect.

This text conveys that message rgds mike
