The Poor Mans Talk

By: Audrey Barber

They call themselves gentlemen
They say they are respected
They say they are honoured
They say they are loyal country patriots
Elite Businessmen some claim to be
They love their wife's and honest say
But every night they womanize

They can talk the talk
But can they walk that walk

Great big positions holding they claim
Charities many they say they do
Some we have not heard of at all
The creams of society around them are
With elite sources they hang around
In grand hotels they have their fun
Are the poor man's taxes used for these

They do talk the talk
But can they walk that walk

Cabinet Ministers all they know
President a great pal of theirs
Government positions are then given to them
They reap those benefits all alone
Overseas trips and first class tickets
Are all paid for
Are the poor man's taxes used for these

They can talk the talk
But can the walk that walk

Overseas visits plenty the make
Each silly visit business they claim
At every place a woman they keep
Fun and pleasure they must have
At every place they may be
Very high expense are paid for them
Are the poor man's taxes used for these

They can talk the talk
But can they walk that walk

Every night they are out
Meetings they say
A different woman for every night
Orgies they have in far out places
The wife's stay home and beauty parlous attend
Not knowing their men are hypocrites
They plot and plan to kill the other
The steal and cheat, and plunder the poor

So they talk the talk
But can they walk that walk

Grand big vehicles they do drive
A car for the wife, the daughter and son
Sometimes even the dogs have one
The gardener, hobbles on bended knees
But not a thought a lift to give
The servant and cook equally hobble on home
While the dogs in big vehicles go.
Are the poor man's taxes then spent on these.

They can talk the talk
But can they walk that walk

Funds for charities they do plunder
To personal accounts all these go
Those funds that come are for the homeless
Some for children, some for the aged
Most of them for development
But these are funds we will never see
As in their pockets they safely keep
The poor mans funds are plundered by them

They can talk the talk
But can they walk that walk

These are the gentlemen
The country in havoc has put
These are the gentlemen who plundered our taxes
These are the gentlemen where is their respect
Such are the gentlemen where is their honour
These are the men claiming patriotic deeds
These are womanizers their wife's care less
Such are the men who have sold their souls

They certainly talk the talk
But can they walk that walk

Oh these men have no shame
Their families they will sell for their gain
These are men who grand positions hold
These are men Ministers they are
These are the men disaster they bring
These are the men who is selling our land
These are gentlemen miserable they are

Yes they can talk the talk
But they will never walk that walk

They just get caught,
They are crooked and cunning.
They steal and cheat, murder and plunder
The poor man's taxes they use for their gain
These are some gentlemen of Sri Lanka
Wealthy businessmen all they are
We are ashamed of them.
Shoot them all
Or to exile put

They still talk the talk
But will not walk that walk

These are the Patriots of Sri Lanka
Tarnish our name womanizer's they are
We are ashamed of them
Cut off their heads
Or ban them away

They too talk the talk
But will never walk that walk

These are the Ministers of Sri Lanka
No education they have
Plundering our resources
Aiding the terrorists are all they know
These heathens must kill and throw away.

To talk the talk they have no tongue
To walk the walk they never know how
