A close friend gave me the challenge of writing the poem around this picture she found. I thank her for the inspiration .Copywrite belongs to the site shown http://www.johnwilliamwaterhouse.com/paintings/painting1345.aspx

I See You On Distant Shores by M.A.Meddings

As I see you on distant shores waiting for me
The sadness within your eyes stirs my soul
And I long for the day we are together again

My heart lies heavy as I want for thee
And these tears barely ease the pain
As I see you on distant shores waiting for me

I lost you before then  I sailed away a broken fool
But your beauty remained a haunting song
And I long for the day we are together again

In these hostile regions where war unfolds
My one salvation is the knowing of you
As I see you on distant shores waiting for me

And I remember you  always my love
How tender your kiss so  radiant your smile
And I long for the day we are together again

Though tortured by the absence from you
I remember just how beautiful you are
As I see you on distant shores waiting for me
And I long for the day we are together again

A sweet, gentle, love poem that moves me to sigh in its warmth. You took me to the hearts of these two lovers who long to be together.

There is beauty, and there is pain, and most of all there is a lot of love, many things going on under this poems' simplicity. The sorrow expressed here has a certain strength in line, something issuing that there is more pain than hope in the end - maybe because the central message is linked to so many "sad words" before that shining 5th stanza, where it seems sun suddenly appears. But the liaison to the picture is brilliant, and one could even "hear the colours" of it. (I don't write comments that long usually, but this one simply made me to do this...)
Great work, Michael, divine inspiration! I felt each word here getting a life of its own!

May you have a very merry Christmas in the arms of someone you love Mike.

Your forlorn romantic poems make me want to cry....Antidote order of the day, Tai
