DEBATE TOPIC - Should fireworks be banned from celebrations?

I believe that we shouldn't have
fireworks on celebrations like New Years Eve.

Yes they are pretty but no one stops to
consider the animal toll....

In Australia, New Years Eve is the one
night of the year that the most domesic
animals[dogs and cats mainly dogs] die,
because they get spooked by the loud noises
and escape from backyards to be hit
by cars or lost and starve to death.

This is why I believe we shouldn't have fireworks
as nobody thinks of the animal toll.....

What does everybody else think?

Our small city has wonderful fireworks in the center of town, far away from neighborhoods where people live. The fireworks can be seen for miles around, and are beautiful and wonderful, and last about 20 minutes.

I don't like fireworks in the neighborhoods. I don't like being kept awake by idiots who keep setting them off all during the night. I would not have fireworks available for sale to the public.

Well let me contribute. I have animals, 2 dogs to be exact and we kept them inside when we went to go see the fireworks. Yes I do see your point of animals escaping backyards because of the loud sounds but why stop there? You might as well ban fireworks during the 4th of July or period. If there is a firework within range of a pet, more over a dog, they will bark. Just keep your pets inside of the house or make sure that they cant escape from the backyard. You now have my opinion.
