I wrote this for my boyfriend. I'm afraid even this doesn't do him justice.


Perfect Gift

I really tried to find one thing
Perfect to give you.
I searched and couldn't find it;
I knew not what to do.

You are perfect in my eyes,
So nothing seemed quite right.
Everything I found fell short;
Perfection not in sight.

Perhaps that was my problem though,
I set the bar too high.
At this rate it might be easier
To just learn how to fly.

Flying's not so out of reach,
As long as I have you.
With you my heart already soars
Because you love me too.

So maybe that one perfect gift
Was never to be true.
For in the end the perfect thing
Is just that I love you
