not true for me but I do know it happens

Cutting Survival

"I've been down that road before."
Where cutting felt so right
I finally stopped two years ago
On that dreaded night.

"I remember every minute."
All that trembling fear
A voice telling me to cut again
That is all that I could hear.

"Seeing as I'm in this place."
I am the type to listen
As I watched the blade cut
And my blood begin to glisten.

"I knew I had to get some help."
For my cutting addiction
For if I didn't I would die
I knew it wasn't fiction.

"It was my friend who found me."
That night bleeding on the ground
I knew that I was dying
For there was darkness all around.

"You see I am alive today."
I'm lucky I survived
I thank God every night
That my friend arrived.

"Now I know what you are thinking."
Man, this institution reeks
But it's helped with my addiction
And curiosity never peaks.
