Do you sometimes speak & your words go unheard? Do you sometimes feel that those people should be listening especially when they really don't deserve to?

Unheard by the Undeserving

Why try to speak
To ears that are unwilling
Why waste time
With those undeserving

Why speak words
To have it thrown right back
Why try bestow upon them
The understanding they lack

Within communication
There is no comprehension

In one ear, out the other
So, why is it worth the bother

They don't have enough time to spare
They don't have enough memory to spare
No, not for what we have to share
It is a burden that we bare

So, why try to be heard
By ears that are closed
So, why waste time
When it can't be imposed

They don't want to listen
To ideas we are sharing
The words from our heart
To their ears are futile neighing

Why in vain try to speak
To ears that are unwilling
Why try bestow upon them
When they are undeserving

This poem was set up in a very lovely format. Just that got my attention in wanting to see what it had to say.

It can be very difficult to be a young person in today's world where adults have little time to listen; sometimes even those who call us friends are 'undeserving'.

It is good that you can write down your feelings.

This poem reminds me of a verse in the Bible, Matthew 7:6:

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

This is a very well written evokative poem with a lovely flow and wise message. Thanks for sharing with us. You are a talented young lady and it is a pleasure to ready your texts.

An interesting question in this sweet little poem Calisto, it kind of reminded me of how it is with my boys, I keep trying to calmly direct them in life, pointing out good and bad aspects of their behavior and others and their need to get a grip of who and what type of person they want to become, and sometimes it feels like they are not listening, but as one father told me many years ago, all we can do is keep saying it, put in 100% and 95% of them will turn out ok! I am not reckoning on that percentage in the wider world now but I would love to see the greedy, dispassionate natures of man and woman today, reduced to that 5%.

As to writers and poets and artists of all forms and why we should keep saying it in our art? Well, the way I see it, the media control what we hear and see and choose to believe, very skillfully and as that media consists of writers first and formost, if enough keep pointing out the wrong of mankind, then eventually the right way will be found. That is my hope, for enough writers of the world to unite and make our planet a place that our young will be proud of and want to preserve for generations to come.

We have filled our children with apathy which will only translate to more death and destruction in the bleak future. That is the reason we should never give up.

Sorry about the long comment, but preserving our world for our children to live happily in, is my first priory after taking care of them and helping them find their way.

Very thought provoking write. Nicely presented and no crit to offer.

Smiling at you,

Tai
