New York City Man

nomadic art overview refrains folk
music's calm complacency off Broadway;
vagabonds strumming guitars of escape.
west village excursion hails howling
in the park with New York City landscape.

inane intricacies abandoned on grass
lifts smoky air we have grown to adore.
rejoiced realization scatters the soul
in modern medley with detached diplomats
who would give Manhattan back to the Indians.

celebration compensates cranium guilt,
contagious cachinnation dithers duties
of a freed old soul lost in commonality.
serene enchantment of bohemian beauty
restores understanding of human reality.

sun beams glow embryos on Empire State,
helicopters swirl affluent authority;
spark my cigar in anonymity of park bench.
once again this is the land of the free;
temporal lapse from incessant demands.

Sometime we have to break free of the guilt that plagues our souls, this was a beautiful guide around a city I have yet to visit, but I intend to and will think of this poem and compare when I do. Thanks for the trip, smiling at you, Tai

Individuality
ah the land of the free, we clutter up everywhere it seems with our eagerness to get lost in our own shadows. the flow is great and the alliteration smooth here. a good poem. reminds me a little of my own hometown.
