Connected (A Terzanelle)

Sun rises like the dawn within our eyes
connected from a past that led us here
yet held in hand by thread of heaven's skies.

For you, my heart cannot but hold you dear
as eyes of blue peer deep within my soul;
connected from a past that led us here.

So soon our hearts in spiral lose control
wafting within the hands of God above
as eyes of blue peer deep within my soul.

No other man but you has held my love.
My treasured gift responds to what you give
wafting within the hands of God above.

Such beacon marks this time for us to live,
a precious light most difficult to catch.
My treasured gift responds to what you give.

Here we as one have finally met our match.
Sun rises like the dawn within our eyes.
A precious light most difficult to catch
yet held in hand by thread of heaven's skies

a combination of the villanelle and the
terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem
consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets

each triplet is repeated, reappearing
as the last line of the succeeding triplet
with the exception of the center line

appears in the quatrain. The rhyme and
refrain scheme for the triplets
is as follows:
