... just a game

What else am I supposed to do?

I tried the sweet-talk and a dance,
to charmingly remove the fence,
I tried a compliment or two.
What else am I supposed to do,
To get to you?

How many songs do I have to write?
How many wars are there to fight?
How long have I to stand this trial?
How long is this your way's last mile,
To get another smile?

I wrote some words, I held a speech
and there is still a wall to breach.
I tried to think of something new.
What else am I supposed to do,
To be with you?

Horst...beautifully written...it seems to me, what with your

Just a game says it all. Really, love is painfull, but always remember pain is part of the package. You could walk miles, bare-footed on broken glass for someone you love. This is an outstanding poem, and I hope to read more.

I love these types of poems...the essence of the poem is that of giving up almost, yet still having hope that your questions of "what to do" get answered.

It is as you said. Just a game.

Read "What Can I Offer Her" by Tupac Shakur. It's a similar story behind the poem and it's very well written.
