Day Before

You left me,
plain and simple.
You still hang around,
though it's hard for me.
Sometimes I wonder
how the day before you left...
how it seemed perfect,
then it was over.
We're still friends,
wish we were more,
so we'd have an excuse
to be together always.
But then I wonder
how the day before you left...
how it seemed full of love,
then you said goodbye.
Friends isn't enough,
I want so much more.
For the tears to have a reason...
have a reason to stop.
Now I wonder
how the day before you left...
how you made it memorable,
when you knew pain would soon emerge.
Maybe it's better
for us to be apart.
No chance for worse endings,
one that will scar me forever.
I stopped wondering
abou the day before you left.
The tears have stopped
and I've said goodbye.
