They say Leopard never changes its spots! But, this one did- The Borneo's newly found Clouded Leopard; Such mutations usually occur due to adverse climatic conditions. It set me thinking:

Leopard Changes its Spots

'Leopard never changes its spots!'
But this one did.

It's a question of adaptation,
A matter of chance mutation
Of genes to suite the environment:
'Survival of the fittest!'

Driven to change to fit in
An atmosphere full of pollution-
Rendered unlivable by the same man
Who benefited from it for long,
Survived on its flora and fauna,
For centuries lived in harmony with Nature
But, exploited it beyond endurance...

One day will come when
Man will also change beyond recognition.
May be one-day look like Martians?

Now the Earth is dying out:
Just as water disappeared from Mars
Soon Earth will also dry out
We will die and be wiped out
From the surface of Earth.

We are spelling our own doom
By our own greed we'll die out soon...

A new distinct species of Leopard has appeared in Borneo Rainforests of Indonesia. The Bornean Clouded leopard Neofelis diardi Kalimantan has distinct spots on its back different from its cousin, the usual Mainland Clouded Leopard. My tribute to the Leopard on the World Environment Day...

I love this 'Survival of the fittest" poem. How evolutionary. You really catched it all in there. Makes me wonder; What are we doing to the world? Great one!

Do things mutate, change because of evolution - somehow I feel that mother nature is strong - and it us who will eventually die out - I know with certain species that they can self propagate if their are not enough of the opposite sex - the human though - hmm, interesting thoughts here Zoya - our world is evolving - for good or bad

A classic case were the peppered moth populations in England, which evolved from light-winged to dark-winged when the trees they rest on were darkened by pollution so the light ones, previously camouflaged, became conspicuous to predation by birds; and the dark ones, previously just rare, recurrent-mutant "freaks" quickly gobbled up by the birds, now enjoyed the protection of camouflage. Is something like this waht you think is going one there Zoya? In any case, a fascinating text!
