The Just Friends Zone

A gated area

Barbed wire and armed gaurds

Parana filed moats

And invinceable concrete

Makes the "Just Friends Zone"

Seem like a prison break

Once you move past the walls of other 'just frienders'

Out into the yard of more 'just frienders'

A spotlight of unwelcoming 'more than just frienders'

And the gaurds of 'super friends' take up thier weaponds

If you wait long enough

They may just fall asleep but being careful not to get sucked back through the walls

You can move over the barb wire with many cuts and bruises

And with luck

You may have an arm left after the paranas

But once through the enchanted forests and dark caves

The 'Just Friends Zone"

Will be a part of the past

Valerie, this is an excellently written piece. You Lockharts all are great writers in my book. I am adding you to my friends list.

One wants friendship, one is in love. This is a painful situation, particularly for the one in love. Do you give up the friend because it is too painful to play the "just friends" role or do you pretend to be "just friends" and take all the hard licks it gives you just to be in their lives? I love the metaphorical way in which you deal with this because it is so much like being imprisioned by emotions, your own and those of the one you love. This is outstanding!
Love you, Mammy
