Observe how lovers change positions

The angle of ascent

When we meet first time
bodies frontally paralell
hands and eyes guarded,
not a look allowed
out of sight
eyes only brushing
from point to point
like a steeplechase
across unchartered land

The second time
we sit next to each other
half angled towards
allowing distance for flight
But keeping the dogs at bay
already somewhat cloistered
prone for privacy
maybe eating strawberries
out of cartons
lips stained berry red
as camouflage of lust

But suddenly
my hand across your
back and close to
jugular artery
the angle is right
your throat bared
in my direction
and the small hairs
on your neck
hang on my lips
for every word

What is our flight plan
you whisper through
the very skin
I need a pilot
for this flight
whose success at landing
is as great
as when he takes off

belted down safely
told to remain seated
for your safety
standby for takeoff
the signs are lit
feel the angle of ascent
