The 11th installment of my series (Tamika)

When Mistakes Make you Stronger

It seemed all was good in my past
I had someone to hold my hand
I couldn’t slip on the surface below
Only they could understand
As time went on things took a turn
They had left me all alone
With the product of true love created
They were my strength and my home
The ice beneath caused me to think
Of my options for what I would do
I had no time for trial and error
For I had to follow through
Nights have been the hardest journey
When chilling thoughts became real
I’m trying to protect the ones I love
So the pain I have they don’t feel
My purpose in life has driven me
To accept the terms of today
The ice beneath me cracks and breaks
But I still cannot run away
My mistakes have made me stronger
Strong enough to withstand the ice
That I and my loved ones stand above
My actions bear a heavy price
I've prayed every day and night
So that insight is what I’ll find
I’m leaving my faults and pain
And naivety abundant behind
So I hold the ones I love the most
‘Till the day the sun doesn’t shine
The ice has only enforced my cause
And kept my heart beating fine
I don’t hold myself at bay
For all the events of my past
I just look ahead for purpose
So that the results will never last

Well done Aaron! You write exceptionally well for ANY aged person...much less a young fellow.

Good job lad, and keep 'em coming!
