River of life

At first the babble of the brook reveals with childish glee
All those things that come to mind of once were you and me
Those lazy days of endless fun of running to and fro'
And yes indeed a childish need to learn to feel to know

Wending with tranquillity meandering to our prime
As like the brook into a stream we flow in thoughts sublime
Flowing over rocks of life with new urgency and speed
Our wish to grow to adult flow our silly childish need

Our youthful grace our hectic pace on journey without end
A carefree youth in search of truth a wish to river blend
A need to grow to seek to know adventures joy to find
Forever seeking pastures new our childhood now behind

No more the babble of the brook no more the mountain stream
No more those lazy hazy days now gone a childish dream
All that to end at rivers bend as life we now explore
The brook the stream a distant dream their cry now rivers roar

And like the river swift in flow though canyon walls we glide
Our vision lost at such great cost their walls such beauty hide
We race we run so blind so dumb our need to see it all
And as we fly we fail to spy the coming waterfall

We learn of tides their ebb and flow our good times and our bad
Of our journeys fears we wash with tears when we should of life be glad
For tho' your rivers hue be sometimes blue on your journey to the sea
Live in the flowing and the living and not in what or not may be

Enjoy the river of your life, like her feel not no shame
Your course was set, your destiny, awaits be you wild or tame
And be you true unto yourself then wash your heart of fears
Watch your river flow to ocean blue and not a sea of tears

Albert
Yes I also believe our lives are like the course of a river that we sometimes allow the surging current to take us where we should not really venture. Very nicely put together a very good read.
