This is written in honour of the millions of American Indians, whose culture is long and rich...and I am proud to say I am a part of.

Savage

Our land was stolen
Our women, raped
Our children, enslaved
We were stolen from,
Beaten down and confused
We became addicted,
Inflicted with disease
Our ancient ways, torn apart
We were murdered,
Taken advantage of
We were bartered, lied to,
and in the end, this being most ironic,
were called Savage.

Yes the ways of the so called Civilised world towards the rest of thE world, especially the 'third world', are most annoying , to say the least!

First they take our cilvilization away,
Then call us uncivilised;
Then they take our culture away,
And call us uncouth;
They take away our heritage,
And leave us without a clue;
Then they take our language away ,
And call uneducated:
Then they mock at us
And call us "SAVAGES" !

((((Hugs Teal a for a brilliant write)))

Bravo! Bravo! Viva la Munde!Me amigo!

Love, xxx, Zoya

Hi Teala!
Very powerful poem and loved the irony at the end. My father travelled coast to coast on Greyhound buses when he was 81, and he said the nicest people he met were native Americans. "To all things and all people, we are friends," Is this a
well known motto?

Unfortunately every thing you say is true,and another part of history to be ashamed of, and in my opinion little was done to try and recompence the situation in later years,more should speak out about this harsh reality, as you have well done :-)
