I remember our first months together..
even though it seems a lifetime ago
I like reminiscing about that first December
it was the first time I had ever tasted a clove
Was it the way they smelled that made me yearn to try
or the way you held it in your mouth, looking something like
James Dean, or maybe Kiefer Sutherland
How laughed at you...wearing shorts in the winter
it always seemed so funny to me, now I am quite used to it
Back then, it seemed, everything was new...our time together
was just beginning..
This morning I asked you,
did you even think that we might one day
be lying in bed together, almost 7 years later, on a Sunday..
wishing the alarm would shut itself off...
feeling like the whole world
should take a day off..
so we'd just have a few more minutes together..
Soon we will be husband and wife, inspiring one another for years to come..
and forever, an eternity...until the stars cease to shine..
even when there is not a breath left in me...I will still be loving you
So I tuck away these memories of years past,
save them somewhere special
in my mind. I keep them close,
and every now and then, when things may get rough..
I pull one out of my mind's pocket
and share with you...to remind us both that...
Our journey, our love, our adventure...it has only just begun

Love's Journey
