For Nicole

Standing Time

I've weathered time without a doubt
With the abuse comes the pain
I've looked out on the sea of my life
And have thought “what could I gain”
God bless my dear sweet mother
Curse the state that she is in
I wish time could reverse that trance
And forgive the hurt and sin
I've looked out for myself
Often I have thought about life
And have wondered “what’s my purpose”
Nothing compares to the strife
I have no connection to the cliffs
That have surrounded me for years
Neutrals been my impaling emotion
There has been some hint of fear
Day in and day out I've stood here
In an environment tailored to me
The sun gives way to a new idea
That my hopes are as deep as the sea
I’m a resilient force, I know this
I've always been one to care
Life deals out random hands of cards
Sometimes the payout isn’t fair
I’m glad to know that my friends
Will always lend out their hand
When life’s earthquakes erupt suddenly
And I have no where to stand
Caring and quietly I look on
At the way life brings vitality
And know while time changes
My past will never harm me

another wonderfully written poem for a friend. This too has such a lovely smooth flow to it Aaron. It pours like cream across the page. : )
