Looking Forward

So today is a day
That’s important to know
All the friends that you have
Come to see your own show
A day that may make you feel
Uneasy, funny, crazy, silly
Can this day get anymore real
The whole year spent feeling younger
But this day is so much more
Because it shows your yearning
For the future; not the past anymore
Enjoy this celebration, it’s only a day
Enjoy it with your smiling face
Because your friends now surround you
Surround you in this time and place
Happy Birthday my growing friend
Who grows untamed in life
Who looks to friends for support
When submerged in pain called strife
Look forward and never look back
The future is strong and bright
And know your friends follow behind
And bask in your constant delight
