Life is fine

So much snow has fallen
So many trees have bent in the wind
Around the corner of every thought
I sense the shadow of where it all began
A lotus flower made from paper
Promises folded into time
Life is fine.

As long as i do not walk too far from the gate.

I wonder
If the snow had fallen in June
Could we have waited that long
A cold embrace seemed the natural stage
To capture that final scene
We wrote our names with out consequence
Knowing their fate shared the same destiny.

So much snow has fallen
So many trees have bent in the wind
Yet the memories refuse to succumb
I still hear the saxophone playing
Red shoes, French wine
Cycles on the riverbank
The lazy sunflower sun.

So tell me what is life
If all our memories die too young.
