In early protestantism, suicide was regarded with respect as a means to get saved from the Devil, possibly introduced by Martin Luther himself.
I do not recommend it, since any means to stay alive are worth any pains.
When darkness closes in upon you
and there is no way out
except by escapism,
enforcing any method,
by whatever means in desperation,
then, be not afraid
to throw yourself out
into the abyss,
for there is always a bottom,
and that's the only way out.
