Just getting on my soapbox for a bit... I hate being surrounded by "cool" people. And yes, this pome is true. I swear. Nerd's honor.


Just a request... or a list of them

I'm just another nerd,
Thank you very much.
I have no interest in drinking,
Nightclubs, gossip and such.

I have no idea who left whom
Or who bore whom a child
Or who was booted out of where
I'll admit, this is driving me wild.

Give me a healthy session
Of playing with syllables
Or debating religion and philosophy
Or rehashing constitutional Preambles.

I'll shine in an MCQ exam
Or win at extempore elocution
Please don't ask me to go dancing
I'd rather go traipsing all over creation.

Don't force me to go partying
When I'd rather curl up with a book;
When I say I don't like watching TV
Please don't give me The Look.

Please excuse me from the communal salsa
I've been blessed with two left feet
Please don't mess with my computer
Keeping it organized is no mean feat.

Please leave me alone and let me be
When I cant bring myself to talk
Please let me be when I take off
Sometimes I just need to walk.

And lastly, because it is rude
And because I know it too,
Please refrain from telling me
I should be older than twenty two!

I am complete agreement with Jehrico. The so called cool brigade take the easy way out. It is easy to conform. There is safety and comfort to be found in numbers. It takes far more courage to write what you have written. It take far more courage to stand by your own beliefs. In my eyes you are by far the coolest. Oops! sorry you don't wish to be cool :-) To be yourself and not to be bent by the winds of conformism is to be true to yourself and ultimately will lead to you being far more happier with yourself. Keep on the path you have chosen wisely.
