A light flickers

I stand alone in a field, I am nothing but hollow
Echoes overlap with silence, and nothing is spoken
Thoughts of conscience but nothing but a glare to follow
I miss the hours I spent with you before I was broken
There is this solitude and cascades of deceiving grins
To walk a long distance and discover that it's short
I wish I could go back in time and see how it begins
To stop thinking demented thoughts and start to distort
I utter the contrary and watch as halos turn to horns
Why a fly is attracted to a bright light no one knows
When something sad happens I guess everybody mourns
But in this dark time a light flickers and it starts to snow

Zoya Zaidi
Reminds me of a poem by Kahlil Gibran,
In which a youth stands in a field and his glance,
Is set on the far away horizon, and
He is in a trance.
When the poet asks him,
What It might be that
Makes him glare in distance,
When there is nothing to see?
He answers, there is future in front of me!
Past was full of sorrow, so I look
Into future, as past holds nothing for me!
Your poem, dear Peter, produces that effect on me!

((((((Hugs, it completely swallowed me))))))

Love, xxx, Zoya
