Another day:Another way

ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER WAY

they fought and died in foreign field
(not knowing if the cause was just
not caring who would win or lose)
only that they each should see
another day

survivors of the first great war
(the one they said would end them all
and bring a lasting peace to earth)
watched in horror young men fight
another war

they tell us to remember them
(who gave their lives for freedom's right
to fight and fight and fight again)
they say we never should forget
another time

let's not forget that we are free
to shout aloud what we all know:
if we still walk in conflict's path
that war can never bring to earth
another peace

we must be learning war no more
and into ploughshares beat our spears
let swords become our pruning shears
and by our actions show there is
another way

Powerful read, this. It is what so many civilians would like to say to our governments, especially when you hear news on TV about wars here and bombings there and rebellions and more. What's more: 'into ploughshares beat our spears, let our sword become our pruning shears' is so terribly representative of the transition the world needs to go through... Excellent.
