I am a bitter old woman with her back to the world, or
I am a scared little girl with nowhere left to turn.

I am crying because I am selfish and alone, or
I am crying because I am injured and alone.

I am alone because I dislike everyone, or
I am alone because everyone dislikes me.

I am searching for the key to my own happiness, or
I am searching for the key to the happiness of others, or
I am searching only for a way to survive.

I am a bitter old woman with her back to the world, or
I am a scared little girl with nowhere left to turn.

I am laughing at the expense of another, or
I am laughing with my eyes and heart and soul, or
I am laughing because I just want to be happy.

I am fading away because I don't care about anything, or
I am fading away because I don't know how to stop.

I am faithless because I don't want to believe, or
I am faithless because that is all life has taught me to be.

I am a bitter old woman with her back to the world, or
I am a scared little girl with nowhere left to turn.
