Genius


genius cannot be taught
we've heard it all before
it separates the triers
makes them feel like liars
who do you think you are
aspiring to that
I've read your stuff
it sounds like crap
another nail of defeat
if we let it be
their fears just grow ours
if we let it be

for we can dream
we can make believe
we can look at the stars and smile
we can think and we can work
find doors that will open
needing nothing to follow
except our imagination
our drive
our will to be alive
and tell a story
it doesn't make us a genius
it just exposes the genius
already in us
if we let it be
