Sides

if I had to choose
I'd lean towards they
with less need for defense
with less need to use words
to fertilise the vine

but don't ask me to decide
instead ask me to wish
that you will work it out
together
the two of you
with no one's help
but your own

now I'll stay back
with you both in my thoughts
and hope

Hey now, this is a good piece of writing. Interesting how you keep yourself involved, but at the same time removed. I like this poem a lot.

Delightful and poignant. It's difficult to take sides when two people we care about are arguing. What we need from friends, in such cases, I think, is impartiality and mutual support. Friendship is too precious to be compromised by taking one side or the other. In the end, everybody loses.
