Child

dance your little fingers
across a fragile world
sing your absent melody
forgetting if its heard
turn seed pods into animals
making legs from rolled up leaves
emanate your innocence
so it brings us to our knees

to see without a veil of structure
to exist without the thought of time
a soul as yet untainted
by the elements of man-made crime
hum your little lullabies
drift away without a why
and I'll sit back gladly watching you
as I learn from your natural eye

how perfect, brought me back to watching my children playing, unaware that I was watching - their absolute absorption in what they were doing :-)
