Time and tide wait for no man.

Sonnet To Time.

Watch as the breaking waves pummel the shingle beach.
Hours go before us as hands outstretched to a friend.
Seldom do those hands find that kindness out of reach,
Then will time welcome us with open arm at journey's end.
See the break of dawn, summon up the cares of the day,
Each second leaves behind a breath,a heartbeat, newly born,
Your hand in mine, so warm so close, wishing us to stay.
Sun may now warm our brows, in meadows of ripened corn.
Time never retraces its steps, will never change its course,
How rare is nature in passing seasons as they flow away
Snows melt, our years form rivers, we now locate its souce,
Autumn, then Summer bring us storms with trees that sway.
Then such is nature's way with time and constant changing tide,
The hours, pass as seasons change, but with thee will I abide.
