Food For Thought...

If, on this night so dark and dreary
You find yourself depressed and weary
And contemplate the various ways
That you might end it all...

Please...DON'T !

For I have seen those left behind
Nearly lose their mind...
From grief !

And it's not a pretty sight !!

They torment themselves...
With...
What could have been...
Who it should have been...
What they might have done...
Why they didn't see...
How they could have stopped it
If they had only known...
And on and on it goes

They wake each day to the same routine
Of sorting out facts...
Trying to make sense...
Trying to be brave...
Trying to go on...
And on and on it goes...

And you thought that YOU were living in Hell !!

Indeed the suffering of those left behind goes beyond description DD. As for the mindset of those who take that dreadful step, I don't think that we have a way in...
I hope your poem is a help to anyone contemplating or suffering. Excellent write.

An inspiring write Dee. It's easier to find the strength to cope by looking back at what you've already endured, and marvel at how you arrived where you are... we all have an inbuilt survivor, the trick is learning how to tap into the power we don't know we ALREADY have!

Yes Dee, the suffering of those left behind is boundless, but I do believe for the suicider, something takes a hold and such matters don't get a look in. We have to be mad to kill ourselves, even for a moment, but a moment is all it takes. No matter how we lose someone we love, loss always has her way, but I do agree, in these circumstances you refer to, it is harder on those left behind, in every way.

A thought provoking poem, hope it helps someone, on either side of the terrible death coin.

Pondering

Tai, smiling at you
