Don't put your daughter in the ring, Mrs. Worthington

Don't put your daughter in the ring, Mrs. Worthington (Aug. 09)

Don't put your daughter in the ring, Mrs. Worthington
Don't put your daughter in the ring
The profession is overcrowded
And the struggle's pretty tough
I know you're right she's burning to fight
But that isn't quite enough
She's not cut out for the job and a punch in the gob
Will put her off for life
So I repeat, Mrs. Worthington, sweet Mrs. Worthington
Don't put your daughter in the ring

Don't put your daughter in the ring, Mrs. Worthington
Don't put your daughter in the ring
There are other sports when she'd look good in shorts
Whilst running round a track
But not in a ring Mrs Worthington
It's just not the thing Mrs Worthington
She'll end upon her back
I'm in fear, Mrs. Worthington, Dear Mrs. Worthington
Don't put your daughter in the ring

Don't put your daughter in the ring, Mrs. Worthington
Don't put your daughter in the ring
I'm frightened to bits that she'll get hit in the chest
Or loose her Hampstead Heath
I think you should warn her when she gets back to her corner
She'll need more than some lipstick and her bling
So don't let her fight dear it's really not right dear
Don't put your daughter in the ring
If she's to earn a good wage let her go on the stage
Let her break a leg Mrs Worthington I beg Mrs Worthington
Don't put your daughter in the ring

Oh, man, again you had me smiling very broadly, you've got more than just a little Kipling in you, ya know??

A good tongue in cheek poem. Enjoyed very much.

Kathy Lockhart
a well written poem with great rhythm--a littles sexist maybe but I can look over that because of the excellent quality and the humour of the piece.

I just don't like boxing.

Even more than that, I dislike those who put their tots in grown up gear to walk around in their bling and wiggle their behinds for the glorification of the mother (mostly) or the father. Make-up, hair pieces, false teeth and dance moves to put pole dancer to shame are all apart of some of these competition. For Heaven's sake, let the children be children and learn their beauty comes from within.
