One Voice
The ache of unspoken words
tears the air I breathe,
consonants freefall
puddling at my feet.
The lilt of an accent
rises and falls
crumbling into cinders
burning memories.
The rounded vowels of
smooth talk flatten
into thin lines
of absent heartbeats.
Please,
whisper away the grief
shout at the tears
sing me a lullaby
so I may hear again.
