One Voice

The ache of unspoken words
tears the air I breathe,
consonants freefall
puddling at my feet.

The lilt of an accent
rises and falls
crumbling into cinders
burning memories.

The rounded vowels of
smooth talk flatten
into thin lines
of absent heartbeats.

Please,

whisper away the grief
shout at the tears
sing me a lullaby
so I may hear again.

From the captivating first line to the poignant and perfect last line this pulled me along . . . I found myself taking a breath at the beginning and holding it 'til the end. Not many poems do that to me.

How beautiful to have whispers heal deafness.
Such a soothing poem.

We all ache for THAT one voice, to sooth our grief stricken souls...You portray the desire so well. I hope you are not kept wanting.

This is beautiful, I think you found my voice... I lost it yesterday.
