A Walk In The Trees

A Walk In The Trees

Soon she'll pass from sun to shade
To greet me in this leafy glade
The summer trees meet overhead
Shading the dried up river bed
Her footprints on the sandy road
Where a silent stream once flowed
Sweet smells drift on the morning air
Sun shines upon her golden hair
Walking towards me with gentle pace
A picture of both form and grace
She calls my name and with a sigh
She calls again I don't reply
But draw back underneath the trees
It's in my nature to tease
Then she sees me, we soon embrace
My mistress hugs me - as I lick her face

And scolds me for my canine deed
While attaching my retraining lead

To my old buddy Don...the master of "tease"

Great write old buddy...now if you were only as
masterful with the ladies as you are with the puppies,
what a grand life it would be

from your old admiring bard

Skillfully written, you certainly teased us, it works brilliantly, your dog writes eloquently!

On,this made me smile broadly--if I understood it correctly--the fine rhyme throughout lulls and pulls the reader gracefully and artfully into what appears to be a classic romantic poem with all of the bells and whistles...then wham bang, like you've been jolted--playfully--with cattle prod... great write! Howling good stuff here...
