Like a clock during a thunderstorm

Let the winds of fear, anger and sorrow come

They make waves on the surface

but in the depth of the ocean of our being

there is a profound stillness

that has its own pace

like a clock during a thunderstorm....

I really like the central image of the poem--the quiet, regular ticking of the clock contrasted to the mayhem of a thunder storm. I think of an old poem that begins: "Go placidly amidst the noise and haste..."
